Young investigator initiative

WG Name Young Investigators Initiative
WG Leads Jennifer Faber (Bonn, Germany)
Heike Jacobi (Heidelberg, Germany)
WG Objectives The Young Investigator Initiative (YII) was formed within the framework of SCA Global as a platform for scientific exchange amongst young researchers and for education and training purposes. The idea is to assure high quality of clinical assessments by trained clinicians and to attract and bring together young researchers within the field of ataxia research. Because our aims are general and fundamental in nature, the initiative has been expanded to become an overarching Ataxia Global Initiative.
Results Together with the National Ataxia Foundation (NAF) we organized a travel grant award for young researchers and clinicians without funding to offer them the opportunity to attend the SCA Global conference 2020 in Bonn, which unfortunately had to be postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The first Young Investigator Initiative Event was part of the SCA and ARCA Global online conference on October 19th 2020, including an introduction of the initiative, an ataxia scales training and an outline of our further steps.
The Ataxia Global Young Investigator Initiative provides a platform to connect young researchers and clinicians devoted to Ataxia Research from all over the world in collaborative projects.
Regular ataxia scales trainings on all relevant ataxia conferences (next event: AIM, May 2021).
