Ataxia Global Initiative has developed a new webinar series focused on preventive trials in the spinocerebellar ataxias (SCAs). Preventive approaches are the next logical step in ataxia research, building on advances in understanding pre-ataxic disease stages and early biomarkers. This concept has already been successfully explored in other neurodegenerative diseases, and the series aims to transfer these insights to SCAs. The program covers the rationale for preventive trials, lessons learned from related conditions, characterization of the pre-ataxic stage in SCA3 across different cohorts, and the potential of emerging biomarkers such as neurofilament light and MRI measures.
The series will start in October 2025. The registration will be open soon.
